Rumbantela is a reflection of my own experiences and where I grew up: a paternal family of musicians.
The courtyard of my childhood home was the inspiration for this series. This work in particular represents the life that took place in that space: the dances, fights, and coexistence - its social problems, the domino games and the touches of bembé, from our Yoruba religion, that permeated the space. I frequented this environment, it caught my attention, it motivated me.
That mixture of customs, SPIRITUALITY; that life so rich and full of cubania; that essence is what absorbed me and was the common denominator of this entire series.
